<p>Fuel marking programs are government-led initiatives designed to combat fuel fraud such as smuggling, theft, adulteration and dilution of fuels, tax evasion, and subsidy abuse, by adding unique, traceable chemical markers to legitimate fuel. These markers are invisible, tamper-proof, and detectable at various points along the fuel supply chain, enabling authorities to identify adulterated or illegal fuel. More than 190 countries have set fuel quality regulations and specifications according to Stratas Advisors&rsquo; database, while only about 40% of them have mandatory fuel quality monitoring systems (FQMS) in place. Despite the above, many countries continue to face supply chain issues with fuel fraud denying governments substantial tax revenue and subsidy loss.&nbsp;To combat this, many governments have implemented robust fuel marking programs. These use advanced molecular markers and sophisticated tracking systems to generate real-time, actionable intelligence. Currently, fuel marking is mandatory in a total of 53 countries mostly across the regions of Europe, Latin America and Africa, while it is voluntary in the U.S.</p>
