These assessments by Stratas Advisors help provide insight into the evolution of EV supply cost across major markets and vehicle types over time. &nbsp;The index reflects the costs in each market as a whole, and can grow or decline based not just on changes in prices of raw materials but also the EV models available and sold in each market, as well as changes in specifications (e.g. range increases), and technology improvements. 100 = 2019 weighted average EV supply costs across the three markets.

Additional index background:
The index is calculated using real 2022 dollars, with 2019 weighted average costs across the three markets representing a value of 100. The cost index is developed using a Stratas Advisors proprietary model for EV cost analysis, and is based on recent critical metals prices and the ratio of incorporation of these metals into the products in each market, taking into account usage at the battery components level (cathode, anode, electrolyte, separator). The index for each market reflects the typical characteristics of EVs sold there. For each market, the approximate breakdown of EVs sold across four key light-duty vehicle types was assessed (mini-EVs, compacts, crossover SUVs, and full-size pickup trucks); the basis for EV costs took into account the further breakdown of each type into the major battery chemistries (e.g., NCA, LFP, NMC 532, NMC 622, NMC 811, etc.) as well as the prevailing battery capacities. The indices are updated weekly, using new price and market data as available. Members can access historical data tracing back to January 2019, as well as detailed breakdowns of the effect on EV costs of changes in vehicle offerings, specs, and battery chemistry.
